155s

155 mm self-propelled guns at FOB Union. I didn't have anything to do
with them but I thought it would be cool to take their pictures. Not
sure what they are doing in the middle of the city though, as I have
never heard them fire.

FOB Union is known by the Iraqi's as Al-Tawheed Al-Thalith, and it used to be a Republican Guard garrison. It is now the location of the Iraqi High Court where Saddam was tried. There are a number of units that we support there.

If someone called in arty support, would these guys ever open up? Or are they not that accurate?

They seem to keep them in ship shape for the next push (Iran perhaps?)

Perish the thought, KAB.

Sending a package on Monday - I assume the addy is the same?

A box of worthless really silly Arizona stuff.

STAY SAFE!

Yes, these guys are practically foaming at the mouth for a real fire mission. But mostly they are used as Infantry on patrols. There usually just isn't a large enough target to bother with artillery. Plus in the city there's always the collateral damage issue, although I did hear them firing up in Tikrit.

Address is the same. It doesn't matter what you put, my mail seems to end up all over III Corps anyway. Arizona stuff is great - hopefully not Arizona junk food though - I am just starting to get in shape! Ha ha.
