Idiot Test

I keep this on my whiteboard in the office. Every techie guy has to have a whiteboard – who else would he draw complicated network diagrams to show everyone how smart he was?). Anyway, this is the one thing that never gets erased.

1) Can we do it any easier?
2) Can we do it cheaper?
3) Does it make sense?

NOTE: The General’s desires trump numbers one through three.

I like the writing on the whiteboard - with the caveat of "beware of people who purport to speak on behalf of the General."

We had one Wing CC who told us at a Commander's Call that 1) he was aware that his name was often used in vain, and 2) if an idea sounded stupid or illegal and you heard it was his, to please check. Of course, this particular generaly also had a reputation for skewering those who *did* actually have the temerity to check.

I'm guessing those aren't the ones you're talking about anyway, but more the "I don't care if it's legal, I don't care if it doesn't make sense - this is what I want" crowd.

I hate those bastards.
